Maybe I'll start fixing this place later.
Anyway! Last night I was talking online to Brian about this fic I was reading, and I was using all this fanfiction slash, and he didn't know what the hell I was talking about. So, I decided to make him a:
This is all the main, basic crap everyone should know. And this is all off the top of my head.
het - this is the one he didn't know. het = heterosexual aka straight. means the story has a male/female pairing.
slash - gay pairing. can be m/m or f/f, doesn't matter.
femmeslash - girl on girl action.
lemon - a favorite term of mine, this basically signifies the story contains graphic sex. nc-17
lime - a bit tamer than a lemon, lime is pretty much an 'R' rating.
genfic - general fic, no major pairing.
AU - my favorite genre, AU stands for alternate universe, so the story features the same characters in a totally different time/place etc.
seme/uke - Japanese terms for top/bottom respectively. found in m/m stories.
PWP - another classic term. this one stands for Plot What Plot or it can also stand for Porn Without Plot. Basically it's a story that's nothing more than senseless sex.
OC - original character.
Mary Sue - an OC who is the perfect female. she is beautiful and has no faults, and all the guys in the story fall in love with her. obviously what the author of the fic wishes she was. Gary Stu is the male equivilent.
Of course, if anyone's looking for the definition of a lot of terms, they should check out the
Fanfiction Writers Dictionary that Tasha made. It really is awesome.
