I can be very naughty with updating this thing.
Christmas was good this year. It was all rather jumbled up because it was the first Christmas at Mandalay and we couldn't accommodate all the usual guests, so just one of my nanas and my uncle came up. On Christmas Eve we went to the carol service in Weybread Church. The vicar was enormous and jolly and had a crushing handshake. The church was packed, so we had to sit at the back in the kiddy pews. According to my mother, the woman sitting there with us was making eyes at my uncle. We got lost walking home (no street lights). For the rest of the evening we chatted. Dad and I had a hilarious conversation on how to make my novel into a Jewish interest story (don't ask).
On Christmas Day there was much talking and making merry and, for me, washing all the lunch things up. I received the following presents: big box of watercolour pencils, a bean bag chair, £180, choccy, a digital camera, two drawing books and some other sundries. Rudi decided to spice up the day by:
1. Running away when we walked him in to morning IN TO THE ROAD. A yokel walking his dog watched us chasing Rudi and trying to get him back on the lead and observed, aptly, "That dog ain't takin' a blind bit of notice of you!".
2. Eating all the Christmas bread which someone had left out in the kitchen.
3. Making his way into my uncle's bedroom in the night and jumping on his bed (with him in it).
On Boxing Day we drove over to Southwold to walk the dogs along the beach. My brother and I played 17 games of Cluedo in the afternoon.
We caught up with my other nana and my aunt and my great aunt on the 29th. We drove over to have lunch with them.
For New Year I went down to stay with
alfgifu in London with
donals_girl and
mdavison. I had a very good time. We went into Richmond Park to watch the fireworks and ate popcorn and chocolate gemstones. The next morning we watched the 1984 Dune film. I think the people who made it were smoking something similar to the people who made Flash Gordon.
