Industrial revolution

This next lot of photos are strictly for the steampunks and lovers of industrial history, with the 19th C highlights. Firstly, the Llangollen railway

which has suitably steampunk locos and runs through pretty countryside.

Not so picturesque, but still interesting are Minera lead mines.

I thought the design of these looked much older, so I was quite surprised they date from the 1850s.

Ideal for a steampunk day out, the Bridgnorth Funicular saves a long walk between upper and lower areas of the town.

Its splendid Victorian Gothic building incorporates a tea room, with viewing windows through into the winding mechanisms; ideal for the machinery-loving tea drinker!

More railway history at the Severn Valley Railway (yes, for the observant among you that is taken from a diesel loco cab, not a steamer: bonus points to duoinchains or anyone else who knows what type ;-> )

and the nearby Kidderminster Railway Museum, full of miscellaneous technical things for lovers of shiny brass, cast iron and antique electronics.
