An excellent question was asked by xanthophyllippa about what sites you post to and why. I realized my answer was going to be very long so ( I put it all behind the cut. )

wiktt, filmon, mitzi, canon nazi, lumos, canon

Well, I started off in another fandom, first posting at ff.net. That was until I was kindly pointed toward a real board. Since then I've been using fandom specific boards and my website.

Now, for HP, I first stumbled across Diagon Alley and got recommended Guernica's "Knight Errant Chronicles", which led me to SH. At first I was solely in the Occlumency archive thoroughly enjoying all the fiction there. I saw that there were some good, high standards. Like LariLee, I'm competitive and decided if I was going to write and post HP fic, that was where it would be. My first fic was rejected, but I was given the pointers to help me figure it out and I have only had one problem since (and that was one that was thoroughly earned).

I have posted some fic at Diagon Alley (their archive is canon only, so my OC fics aren't there). I have take a look at Fiction Alley and am attempting to post some stories there, but most of them are R/NC-17 rated and I may have to edit them.

While I like reviews, I would rather have a few well thought out reviews than tons of "U R Cool" or equivalent. Granted, not all reviews at SH are well thought out, but I have found you are more likely to get them there than other places I've been.

On the note of the way things work at SH, I like the reveiw box at the bottom of the story. It makes it convenient and generally serves to kick me in the butt to actually review. Other places, you have scroll back to the top (and there is some odd formatting so there are main and sub windows you have to scroll up through).

On the topic of Canon Nazis. I like to think I am one. I haven't beta'd for anyone trying to change character hair color like that, but I did have a trying to put Lucius and Severus in the same year. I really had to work had to convince her that wasn't going to fly at SH. I've had several other Canon things to correct in this one and have tried to point her at the Lexicon. Of course, there are other things wrong with the story (I will call it FF.net syndrome and leave it at that).

As for Movie!Snape vs. Canon!Snape, there are some aspects of Rickman's performance I like, especially his voice and delivery and I will admit I tend to hear that. Visually, he is not the perfect Snape and I try to start off with a Snape that is canon and I'll try to work him into the character I want for the story. So, I don't totally write for Rickman, but he does contribute to my visualization of the character.

Now, Lucius on the other hand is pure Jason Isaacs. That was perfect casting in my mind. :)
