Mitzi is slowly improving... she started barking at my mother again. Mitz has a problem with anyone approaching me if she thinks I don't know (like when I'm sleeping or at the computer with my back to the room). She'll bark hysterically to warn me, then approach Mom with a toy, hoping to distract her from harming me. :-D It's instinct that she's protecting her Pack Leader (and I am the Alpha Bitch -- I gave you the lead-in, so the rest of the joke is up to you). It doesn't help that she knows I'm sick (can't get my temp below 101F even with Tylenol).

I finally wrote Congresswoman Anne Northup a note. I last wrote her in 2000, urging her to support a Medicare Drug Bill. The e-mail I received was one of the most condescending/arrogant pieces of writing ever. She informed me that she understood my concern for my mother, but "fortunately, my parents planned for their retirement". She went on to remind me the government cannot support everyone's poor planning. The fact I remember one sentence verbatim six years later should tell you how angry she made me. I've been voting against her ever since.

Well, Election Day came and, despite her massive smear campaign, she lost her seat in Congress. So I dropped her a line today, reminding her of my last e-mail including the "fortunately" line. And I told her that I "fortunately planned for your retirement -- the champagne is on ice." I also wished her luck as rumor has it she plans to run for Kentucky Governor. I wished her the very same luck she had in this re-election bid.

Besides the smear campaign she ran against John Yarmuth, the daily phone calls (several a day, urging our support for her), the multiple daily mailing (high gloss, very expensive), she actually trotted out her foreign born, adopted son to show she was a good woman. I'm sorry, but using old footage of a two-year old you adopted from a 'disadvantaged' country for re-election is pretty rough. It really makes me wonder if she looks on the child as really being her son, or just a fashion accessory that Angelina Jolie made popular. By the way, I really think Angelina Jolie adopted for the right reasons and truly loves her children. I would be extremely shocked if in the next few decades one of children came out with a Mommie Dearist type of book, but unfortunately, I do believe some people are now viewing adopting a foreign born child as the latest fashion accessory for positive PR purposes. I wonder if Anne Northup will respond to this e-mail. :-) Guantánamo Bay, here I come probably.

And just to make everyone hate me today... Mom and I exchage labor for joint Christmas presents. I do the research and actual ordering, she pays for it. I rather like it. But this year, our Christmas shopping is done. Well, we still have to do something for David (who received his absentee ballot today... *gigglegigglesnort* Ahem, excuse me. Mom wants him to have a new winter coat because he goes outside once, maybe, in the winter. As I'm clueless on what to get him (I'll make him homemade fudge and have been trying to get a free poster of the periodical table... I'm not cheap! I'm poor! You have to have money to be cheap. I just smile and nod. But, except for him and her (I have the same arrangement with David -- I do the work, he pays) ALL OUR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IS DONE! Woot!

jackiejlh and I were discussing how OOC Snape can be written. And beleive me, we've seen them all so you don't have to. It got me thinking about a logical reason why Snape is OOC. I present a hundred word drabble for your hopeful enjoyment...

"Hermione, my beautiful wife, have I told you today how much you've brightened my life? I love you so much, Snookie. My little Snookie bear. The day you became Mrs. Snape is the happiest one of my life. I cried on our wedding day." Severus smiled at her. "Tears of joy, you understand. I want you to have my children, lots of children. And if you want to name one after Harry, I'm okay with it. Whatever makes you happy, Snookie."

* * * * *

"How is he, Hermione?"

"Oh, Harry, it's terrible! He's delirious. The Healers have to get his fever down soon."

Anyone else care to play?

Finally, a poll. Just wanting advice without saying what's going on…

Poll

And is there anyone who is not in the HGSS Exchange who would consider reading over my half-finished piece and telling whether or not I suck it sucks? Anyone?

mitzi, poll, drabble, exchange
