So, like everyone else, I've recently decided I should exercise. For a couple of weeks I tried swimming, but it was blah and chlorine isn't really good for the hair, so I decided to try running instead. I started out going 3 days a week to the UMD gym, alternating a few laps jogging to one walking... But I got sick of spending ~1.5 hours, including commute and stretching and going up and down those stupid steps, for *maybe* 30 minutes of actually moving.
Last week, I started trying to run around Greenbelt lake instead (I can just walk there, which is a really nice advantage, and going in the morning is feasible). I went three days, jogging once around the lake nonstop, then coming home.
Anyway, this morning, I jogged twice around without stopping! (2.5 miles!) Really slowly, but I'm still super-excited. I was even *enjoying* myself this time... The difference was, last week, whenever I came to a bit of an incline, I sped up to get it over with more quickly--This time, I slowed down so as not to overexert myself. HUGE difference.
I'm sure I could have even gone a bit further. It was *nice*. Fun. Wow. I'm so thrilled (I'm sure you can figure that out as I haven't posted in LJ for months except for this :)--though I still check every day).
I'm not even afraid of being able to do the same thing Friday. I'm sure I can. Rah! Go me!
...And yeah, I know that's not much in the grand scheme of things, but it's more than I could manage before...
