Can't dig it

So I'm fresh back from Kenya. It was amazing. If you want to hear more about it, ask me. For now, in the words of my beloved Kenya teammates, I am "redlining" against my own damn culture. My first day back I woke up with a severe headache, temp of 102, chills, neck pain, etc. Seeing that those are all symptoms of malaria, and I received 40 mosquito bites (yes, I counted) in Kenya, I decided to go get checked out. All I wanted was a simple blood draw and test for malaria. Is that too much to ask? After an IV of morphine and phenargan, one CT scan, five blood draws, and one spinal tap later, it was concluded that I did not have malaria, or meningitis, or parasites, or sepsis. And of course, I recieved useless antibiotics as well seeing that it was concluded that I simply have a virus. If you haven't already figured it out, it was all a waste. A pointless use of our resources. Would I have given anything just to be back at Tenwek Hospital in Kenya where I know they would have done the necessary tests, not gone overboard, yet taken great care of me. Yes. So, now I am suffering the side effects of the spinal tap and am pretty much stuck in bed.

Next, I turn the TV on CNN expecting to hear some sort of update on this little war thing that might just be happening in the middle east. Instead, I get to listen to a thirty minute report on some sort traffic offense regarding Mel Gibson. I suppose I simply have to trust that as a loyal American citizen, this is clearly the most important thing for our media to be reporting on. (Insert extreme sarcasm here).

This is my second day back and I kind of want to go back to Kenya.
