Oh Oxfam. What hast thou wrought?

I really ought to know better than to even walk into Oxfam. Admittedly, the last few times, I emerged unscathed. This time, however, there were problems. I walked out with three books.

Further details and vaguely related rambling on the state of C15 scholarship )

wars of the roses, shakespeare: richard iii, thomas malory, books

I'm seriously tempted to start writing up a body count, especially for Gawain.

Also, I keep wondering about the physics of pulling a giant sword out of a dead man's body and stabbing yourself with it. That seems like a lot of effort...

Gawain is the FUNNIEST, seriously, man!

But Bors will always be my man. ^__^

Hee. He is. He means well, I'm sure, but he just...fails. Miserably.

It is! The more I think about it, the more I want to buy the Early Tudors volume of the History of England. It's such a good price for a practically untouched book...

The times I wish I had a proper book allowance for my research.

The Lancelot segment in Holy Grail is one of those wonderful bits for people who know their medieval lit, because it's one of the parts that makes it clear that the Pythons did too.

That and the three-headed giant in The Tale of Sir Robin, which is pretty clearly a shout-out to Chaucer's Tale of Sir Thopas... :D
