It's not been the most action-packed of weeks, but I figured I should try and get back in the habit of updating semi-regularly again...
It's not been a great week for getting much of anything done, really, as the show change at A's work has meant his alarm going off horribly early all week and waking me up. Plus, because there is a problem with the incoming show (we're not supposed to say what the problem is, but they have now cancelled a number of previews, so the fact that there is a problem is no longer a secret) I haven't had the house to myself so much in the evenings, to get work done then. To add to the fun, yesterday morning, when he wasn't working, at last, the council bin lorry woke me up instead. Grrr! So, last night was the only night this week I've actually managed seven hours' sleep. :(
On the work front, I did one set of my backlogged minutes for one job and finally sorted the exchange of papers for the appeal for the other job (on a side note, the IT upgrade there has been an absolute pigging shambles...). Having not had a fully functioning brain for most of the week, I used such brain as I had for reading genre fiction rather than doing anything challenging, and took another three books off the to-read pile, bringing it down to under twenty for the first time in years. Best of them was The Rosie Project, by Graeme Simsion. It's a rom-com of sorts, about an IT professor who sets about finding a partner. As someone who's been asked often enough if I have Asperger's, I had little trouble identifying with the protogonist, and most of it was plausible enough. ;)
I didn't manage to summon enough energy to do MetalChrome on Friday night, as I'd intended. As it turned out, most of the people I'd expected to see there had to cry off, too, mostly with some variant of lurgy/exhaustion. It seems that there's a lot of it about. :(
It's not been a completely dead week on the social life front, though. A and I joined
nezumi_sama and Seth on Tuesday evening for some gaming. As we were down two players, we did board and card games instead of our 'current' RPG (quotes are there because we've not managed to get all six of us together in ages).
Exploding Kittens was quite good fun. I'm less keen on
Dark Moon, which is basically a stripped down version of
Battlestar Galactica.
I'm hoping next week goes a bit better, as there's still plenty of work backlog to clear and a good half dozen possible social and cultural events to choose from at the weekend, if I can find the energy for anything at all. And, who knows, maybe I'll find time to brave the ironing pile at long last, or to cook real food (i.e. something more complex than omelette or microwaved baked potato) for the first time since Whitby. Fingers crossed...
