It's been a good day.
The first good thing came at about 8.20, when the postman turned up with a late Christmas pressie I hadn't been expecting at all.
Then I got to work to discover that they've finally fixed my entry pass, so I don't have to borrow someone else's every time I need to use the ladies' or go to a meeting outside of our corridor.
At 4.30, spotting that I had eliminated everything genuinely necessary to do and was just reading 'stuff that might be useful to know', the boss as good as told me to go home, on the grounds that there were bound to be late nights at some future point.
So I went down to the Courtauld Gallery, where, for some reason, we get free entry. They have an exhibition of Turner watercolours at present, which was OK. I'm not a big fan of watercolours, which are generally a bit too pastel-wishy-washy for my taste, but the quantity of fab etchings based on Turner's was enough to show me that the man had a serious skill in composition of a picture.
I'd not got time left before closing to see all of the permanent collection - I shall have to go back another time - but, just on the top floor, I saw some Seurat oils and some Degas bronzes that I liked a lot.

Plus, elsewhere, there was a very welcome regime change. Those who are already beginning to be tired of the hype may find the following amusing. I certainly did. Somewhere in a parallel universe not far from here...
