Ok! so our discussion topic this week is L'Arc~en~Ciel songs that when played live tend to sound better than their recorded counterparts. As well as listing the songs this week it would be great if you give a few examples of why these song versions are so much better

Drivers High
Yes. I was waiting for someone to talk about that long note, and how that has now become the highlight of this song. he sometimes mixes abit of growl in that but my favourite instances L'anni 2006, AYR, ToK, holy fuck when he killed that part each time - perfect key not a hitch in that flawless delivery - and alwaaaaaaays showing off how effortless it was to him. Yes. That bridge will always be one of my favourites of all laruku composition, made all the better with the atmosphere of the live.
Seventh Heaven
Funnily enough, this isn't even one of my favourite songs but dayum does it get the party started and the crowd going. Its not a regular on my ipod playlist, but definitely a favourite concert setlist number. That pumping beat, the build up of the chorus, the explosion at the climax. Love it.
Anata
I don't think words are needed to explain this any further ;P. Favourite rendition L'anni 06 where he howled the last bits out without a single growl. Beautiful singing right there.
My heart draws a dream
Once again, another song I didn't really take to until I saw the lives. Its just a combination of Ken's amazing intro (and variants of it each time, fucking talented this man), the way the lights go during this piece, and just the way hyde sings it that suddenly makes u really listen to what the song is saying and suddenly its a beautiful, beautiful piece. Loved the ramping up of tetsu's bass in recent lives that comes up just after hyde invites the audience to sing before his voice joins the that of the crowd's.
My Dear
Wow, they just took this regular, nondescript ballad and turned it into an incredibly powerful crowd-favourite from nowhere. The reinforced acoustic-emphasis in the lives, the spotlight on hyde, that note you never realized was actually that long when sung; all in all an emotion packed delivery only made so great with live performance.
Honorable mentions: Yuki no Ashiato; Eien (both these songs had that weird voice synthesizer thing going which was entirely unnecessary), fate, Promised Land, Shout to the devil, 4th avenue cafe
Would be interesting to see if people had songs in mind that they felt sounded better on record hahahahah although that debate might invoke quite a bit of disagreement i suppose :P
