Looks like Biker!Doggett wins. ;)
Instead of responding to friends' entries from three days ago...
Kristen, your Harem LJ idea is a good one. And please consider any of my fics to be yours for the dissecting. :) And yes, I'm still working on that Skinner/Kim/Doggett story...
Jenna, I'm so sorry to hear about your health issues. You're in my thoughts, hon.
Kim, congrats on getting Lucy! Can't wait to see an actual picture of her.
There's probably half a dozen others I meant to reply to but never got around to it. I'll get the hang of this thing... eventually...
Meanwhile...
Meanwhile.
I'm still unemployed (since January this time). My unemployment insurance will run out in two more weeks. I'm four weeks away from graduating with my paralegal certificate. I've been sending out resumes like crazy. Still no interviews.
All this has succeeded in bringing back the serious depression I suffered from in L.A., which was also brought on by never-ending unemployment. A major difference between this time and last time is that last time I had really excellent company-paid insurance through the Writers Guild and could get treatment/medication cheaply -- this time I pay for so-so insurance (been on COBRA for almost a year) with a $30 co-pay for doctor visits and a 50% drug co-pay that makes expensive antidepressants pretty much cost-prohibitive. So in addition to being depressed about not being able to find a frickin' job, I'm depressed about not being able to afford treatment.
Things were supposed to be better in Nashville. That's why I came home. Finding a job (especially a writing job) in L.A. was nearly impossible and very demoralizing -- my agent: "Gilmore Girls won't read you because the last thing you wrote was Walker: Texas Ranger; The Sopranos won't read you because the last thing you wrote was Walker: Texas Ranger." How the hell was I supposed to get out of my Action!Girl box if nobody else would read me?
Now, breaking completely away from television and trying to move into the legal field, I'm faced with the same damn thing -- since I don't have legal experience, no one will even consider me for a paralegal job. Don't my 15 years as an assistant of some kind, not to mention near-expert-level computer skills, count for something? Apparently not. It's like I've wasted a year and a hell of a lot of money getting training for a job I'll never get hired for.
Fuck.
I've been hovering near tears for days now. Writing all this down seems to have sent them over the edge.
I'm going to bed. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
