About a week ago my mom was telling me about a fancy dessert she wanted to make for the 4th or July. Layers or raspberries, blueberries, mascarpone, etc... Sounds great, I decided to invite a couple other families to share with us. But then I couldn't stop inviting people and my 2 families turned into 30 people in our yard for Independence day. It was fantastic!
Volleyball and bad-mitten for the adults while the kids were busy with the slip n slide and wading pool.
For some reason Chad didn't feel like taking pictures, so it was up to me. This was the best shot of the day.
Since he isn't behind the camera, I get to include a picture of Chad on my blog, instead of me. Which is too bad for you, because I have a cute new haircut and slightly impressive biceps.
A nice shady area away from the kids to relax. That's my dad in the middle and mom's garden in the background.
Fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts. Which is fine with me. Those bees and saturn missals made me nervous when I was a kid. So the kids had party poppers and glow in the dark jewelry. By 9:30 it was dark out and they were ready to watch some fireworks.
Unfortunately, the officials in Boston decided to wait until after 10:30 to start the show.
By then half of the kids were sound asleep. We tried waking them, didn't work. Emma woke up about an hour later asking if the fireworks were going to start soon. "no honey, they are all done and everyone else went to bed" Instant tears, so I turned the tv back on hoping that the news would show a portion of the show. Thank you to CBS for ending their broadcast with the a replay of the fireworks, she went to bed happy as a clam.
