I just read what I think will become 2 of my all-time favorite books. Only time will tell, but I think they will probably join those several books that I take off of my shelf to reread every couple of years, if not every year (usually during the summer when I have more leisure time). Those 2 books are, drum roll please…I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith and Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I loved both books beginning to end. I actually want to reread I Capture the Castle right now. I absolutely adore the feeling I get when I’ve discovered a new love in the form of a book. I Capture the Castle has a wonderful narrator and made me laugh, cry, shout for joy (not exaggerating), gasp out of shock, and tingle with suspense. As for Little Women, I read it a while ago but decided to read it again and it amazes me how alive those 4 girls become. I cried and laughed and cried and laughed some more (I’ve recently decided that movies and books are really good when they’ve made me both laugh and cry). I watched the movie Little Women with Winona Ryder and while I thought it was definitely worth watching and heart-warming in every way (I’ve also recently decided that Christian Bale is my new favorite actor. No more Ewan McGregor.), I didn’t cry during Beth’s climactic scene because the movie wasn’t able to develop the characters as well as the book did. Anyways, my all-time favorite books now are Jane Eyre, the Harry Potter series, Ella Enchanted, When the Elephants Dance, possibly I Capture the Castle, and possibly Little Women.
Today I unpacked my boxes from LMU, sorted them, threw away a lot of papers and junk I didn’t need, and then repacked the boxes again. I was able to get rid of 3 boxes so I was very glad for that. But this unpacking and repacking just made me realize how tired I am of moving around. I was thinking about how I’m moving back to LMU at the end of August, then if all goes well, I have to move out of the LMU apartment to come back home and then pack for London. I would absolutely love to have my own place by next summer but who knows what’s going to happen. I wish I could afford my own apartment right now, but I guess all in due time.
