I would be remiss if I didn't post this Glad Thing but I'll keep it as it's own thing since it's a Yarn Tribble thing.
So my coworker who is the knitter decided she should buy me a pattern. This is just the sort of thing that she does because she is the most kind-hearted person in the world (which is one of the reasons that we butt heads so much because my "eh, I'll take what I can get and leave the rest behind" attitude is often in direct contention with her attitude but we make it work). When she had told me about it, she'd said it was a Log Cabin pattern but instead of quilting, it's crochet. I thought that sounded interesting and told her I'd love the pattern (not knowing that she would BUY it for me).
Backtrack a couple of weeks ago when I found this really intriguing pattern that was done in some strange stitch that I doubt I'll ever learn. But I loved the pattern. I just couldn't figure it out from the pictures.
The Log Cabin pattern IS this pattern I'd been looking at. The LC incorporates different colors but the one I liked was a solid. When I realized that, I was floored! Sometimes you just have to put it out to the universe and see what happens!
Also, I find it interesting that it's almost a Fibonacci sequence. I found a blog that had mathmatical patterns and they'd done one based on that sequence. I think I can take this idea and expand it to be one. I'll have to make one first, just to make sure I know all the ins and outs.
