It's Friday and the living is fine

Today was shopping day! I got my tenure bonus (it starts out as $500 and then TAXES takes away a good chunk so it was only a little over $400) today and decided I needed new clothes. This wasn't a want so much as a need. I packed so much of my clothing quickly that I can't find my summer stuff and I'm alway in need of shirts as my job is far messier than you would assume it would be. Who knew that being a pharmacy tech would go through clothing this fast!?!?!?! Of course, I'm also the "hey, can you fix the fax machine" girl which means I have toner on a good majority of my shirts.

Okay, so I just counted up my purchases and I bought SEVENTEEN shirts. 8 of those were nice 100% cotton shirts (please, oh please don't shrink) from CJ Banks and I'm going to hold onto those for when I start job hunting. The others are a bunch of decorated t-shirts from ShopKo. Normally, I would have stopped at WalMart and picked up shirts but I decided I'd spent enough money at these two places that I didn't need to go there this trip. I also got 5 pairs of capris. I'm still going to need to break down and buy some nice trousers but it was too hot to try on so much clothing so I gave up!

I also bought books! And I'd failed to include my book purchases from a couple of weeks ago so I'm going to hunt down that list, as well.

So today's purchases are:

1. A Dark History: The Kings & Queens of Europe (I saw it was I was walking in the door at B&N and decided I needed this book - I don't know why exactly)

2. The Avengers The Ultimate Character Guide (all in the name of research, my friends)

3. Timeless (Book 5) ... Gail Carriger

4. The Hob's Bargain ... Patricia Briggs

5. Steal the Dragon ... Patricia Briggs

6. When Demons Walk ... Patricia Briggs (I've needed to own these books for a very long time but was waiting for (1) money and (2) the new covers)

7. Except the Queen ... Jane Yolen and Midori Snyder (don't know what this book is about but I picked it up and put it into my growing pile because of the authors)

8. The Electric Church ... Jeff Somers (this looks really interesting! I love it when Sci Fi turns religion upside down and sort of evil - it's the Pastor's Kid in me, I guess)

9. A Taint in the Blood ... S. M. Stirling

10. Aftermath (Book 5 in the Sirantha Jax series) ... Ann Aguire

11. Fire (Book 1), Graceling (Book 2) and Bitterblue (Book 3) ... Kristin Cashore (the newest one caught my eye as I walked in (do you see a pattern?) so I went looking for the first two)

12. The Anatomy of Death (Felicity Young)

Okay, the books that I got in the last few weeks... I can't even remember if I posted about these but I don't think I did.

1. The first four books of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King (with the nice new covers!)

2. Shady Lady (book 3 in Corine Solomon series) ... Ann Aguirre (funny thing is that I still don't have the first two in the series and I don't know why I picked this one up first...)

3. Killbox (Book 4 in the Sirantha Jax series) ... Ann Aguire

4. Blood Oath ... Christopher Farnsworth (vampires in the White House!)

5. Invincible (Book 1), Infinity (Book 2) and Infamous (Book 3) (Chronicles of Nick) ... Sherrilyn Kenyon

6. The Nerdist Way ... Chris Hardwick (a very interesting take on a self-help book, not at all what I thought it would be but still very funny)

7. Delirium ... Lauren Oliver

8. Cinder (Book 1 of the Lunar Chronicles) ... Marissa Meyer (very interesting so far! If she delivers on all the threads she's put out there, it's going to be a great book!)

9. Unraveling ... Elizabeth Norris

10. The entire Dark is Rising sequence in ONE BOOK. It's so freaking huge but I love it! One of my favorite sets of stories of all times. This is a must read for EVERYONE, I think. Besides, it has Welsh in it and I'm convinced I need to try to learn that language... which is a laugh because I don't learn languages at all. It's just so musical. I deliberating bought the audiobook so I could hear the phrases they use!

There are several more that I can't see from my location at the computer and I can't find the picture I took of them. Amazon and I have a very unhealthy relationship. I don't spend nearly as much of my time reading as I used to (I've gone from reading a book every two days to a book every two weeks) but I still have this compulsion to buy! It's a sickness, I tell you! A sickness!

But a fun sickness!
