They never left each other’s side on game day. The symbiosis thing that Professor Sprout always talked about seemed to work better when the Hufflepuff Beaters stuck together like glue, working at finishing each other’s sentences if for no other reason than it irritated the rest of the group. They weren't sure how it helped their Quidditch game but they were willing to try anything.
“I’m wearing my yellow laces today,” Ernie called across the room to Justin as they got dressed. “Do you still have yours in your trainers?”
“Yep. Twins again,” he crowed back.
Zacharias groaned from the messy pile of clothes, books and paper piled on his bed. “If you two don’t stop soon, I’m going to-“
“Play better?” Ernie asked, dodging a rolled up sock that had seen better days.
Justin took another approach, knowing that words would only garner him the partner to the sock. The last thing he wanted was that coming his way. Holding up his hand, he counted down to Ernie from five. As his pinky went down, he and Ernie launched themselves toward the mess.
Moments later, Zacharias shook himself clear of the mess that had been smothering him. “Do that again and I’m going to….”
But there was no one there to hear his complaints… or untie him from his headboard. The Bash Brothers had struck again.
