I've read a few pretty good stories via Kindle, but yes the majority of the lower priced / free self-published books just make me cringe.

Sometimes I think about it, (putting something on Amazon), but I find plenty of reasons not to. I'd have to finish something of a decent length (I'd feel odd about adding short stories and would at least want something 15k to publish), and get it beta-read so I don't embarrass myself. Then I'd worry it was the wrong piece, that it's too controversial or too crack-y or 'not my best work' and that it might put people off reading my other works later.

Writing for love is absolutely the best part of being creative :D

I love your rant. It sounds exactly like something I would say. LOL.

There is so much crap out there that sometimes I don't even bother looking. It's better to go to half price books and browse actual books than go to amazon...

I do have a finished book I could put up on amazon. But I'm constantly editing it. It's... never done. And I'm self concious. Like once it's out there, it's out there. You know? LOL

BTW, I did answer your question on FB but I'm not sure if you saw that or not. I really despise all the changes there - makes it so hard to see that people are actually interacting with you! I did get your response but I haven't been good at responding! Nor have I been doing much writing right now. I'm in a "creating" spot (partially, in response to your idea!) and need to get some things untangled in my brain.

And I DEFINITELY need to play a couple more hours of FB games instead of writing! *grins*
