I've gotten some really, really good writing done this weekend. That makes me deliriously happy because (1) so many deadlines are beginning to loom and (2) my workspace is still not set up yet.
I started edits on the Leverage Big Bang this weekend. What? I heard you ask that question out loud as soon as you read that. Lar is editing? Lar is editing. Something she never does. The thing is, I was talking in a chat about how I just give up on my larger stories before they truly get edited and I just hand them in because I can't continue. It stands to reason that I can't just want to finish any longer. I have to want to finish WELL. I have to start editing some of this stuff.
So... that means that I gutted the story and rearranged what I have. So I need to write about half the story over again BUT I like it this time. I think it makes more sense. Aster likes it and thinks it's going in a good direction. The thing is... I was thinking it would be done by now. I'm supposed to be working on other stuff. Some of the stuff I should be working on is stuff I really, really want to get done because it's for some of the new places that I've started to hang out in and I want to be part of all the fun stuff. But I think this editing step is important for how I'm growing as a writer. I can write 10k in a week. Now, I need to edit it so that it's good.
That means that the panic started to set in tonight when I looked over the list of things I need to do. Good panic, mind you. The kind of panic that gets things done. Also, a little panic because the writing chair is not comfortable and there are still things in boxes that need to be dealt with. Most all of my stuff is in boxes in the garage downstairs but I have a few more boxes of books that need to be put on the bookcases. I can't live without my books. Well, I could but it would be a very depressing existence indeed!
But, all in all, a good weekend. Now to continue with the writing for the rest of the night. I have Florence on Spotify and I'm ready to get some more words in the document!
