Pardon this interruption. I'm having a bad night.

I don't know why I rage about wrong's done to my favorite characters in books and movies that I don't own the rights to. I have the power in my pen to change everything. I totally agree with this post. I think people forget how many authors start out with fanfiction, whether it's direct like what's found on fandoms on livejournal or indirect like children writing stories growing up that parallel Cinderella, Ariel, Pochahontas' (sp) stories. EXACTLY!

And I don't really know how this turned into a rant about fanfiction. *grins* It started out as "Why does Tonks have to die?" and just progressed because it's been a rotten day. I know better than to open LJ when my day isn't going well.

I like how you put it: ...it will never be quite the same, at least, not until I'm known enough--and by that time I stop being just a fan, just an equal, people start looking at me as something higher. That's very true. The more authors I follow on Twitter (as that's the only place I've ever friended an author), the more I realize once again that they're just people... people with an agent, of course! They have trouble with their words and plot and figuring out how to keep the house clean and continue with a semblance of a real life outside their head.

It's just a good reminder that it's possible for anyone to do it if they try hard enough.
