Racing through the Cullen’s land always gave Leah a strange thrill. It was yet another broken rule from her childhood, mere dust under her claws now.
Nothing held her back now. Not her father’s rules. Not the dictates of Sam. She might listen to Jacob if he ever bothered to talk to her but she doubted that ever happening. For a leader, he had little to say. She made up her own rules and traditions now.

Nessie’s fifth birthday celebration reeked of sugar and affection. Her presents were piled in the corner, completely dominating the landscape of the room. For days, it was all anyone talked about. Leah tried to stay away from the house but Jacob’s thoughts were never far.
I hope she likes it. Has to like it. Like me. She’s so pretty when she smiles. Why is she frowning? I need to make her smile again.
On it continued until Leah wanted to rip open the presents herself just to ruin the stupid tradition. She had everythiing. What more did she need anyway?
