I Bet You Thought I Went and Died from the Plague....

Well kiddos, after a rather long and busy hiatus, here I am to tell you about my life.

Work.
Workwork.
Workworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkwork.

Does anyone else feel like work has ruined their life? I'm still at the so-called "French" Bakery where people ask me why we haven't changed the name from Le Parisien Bakery to TAQUERIA. We have made 900 tacos just for breakfast this week. ...Do you know how many jalapenos I have to chop? The number is incalcuble. I have chopped so many damn chiles, that the JUICE from all those jalapenos HAS PERMANANTLY BEEN ABSORBED INTO MY FINGERTIP SKIN. (I don't even have to exargerrate this one). IT is the weirdest sensation you will ever feel in your life...it's the same feeling you get from a first degree burn but your fingertips APPEAR to be perfectly healthy. I have thrown my arm through a pane of glass and had to get eight stitches without any signs of tears. I have burned my hands in hot oil to make buñuelos, in cooking candle wax, and on a particularly hot curling iron and still I never even flinched. But let me tell you, this fire is unquenchable (tried lotion, lime, milk, sugar, cold water/salt, vaseline, tomato)that lasts for days (kept me awake all night for about three days) is grueling. *sigh* In better news, I am becoming less awkward with my oral Spanish. Now, I have no problems talking to the customers. Sometimes they think I'm a hablante!! (Success!) It's my co-worker and my manager that I keep screwing up on. I think I have had an epiphany, though. The reason that I had so much trouble talking in Spanish is because I thought too quickly in English. Because I am not used to thinking on my feet in Spanish, the words come out strangely because I tried to talk before I could translate correctly in my head. Using this newly found truth, I have discovered that by remaining calm and slowing down the thought process, Spanish is not nearly so energy-consuming. Anyway, I still can't talk smoothly to my co-workers because I am naturally talkative and try to say everything I would have said in English (meanwhile forgetting my own cardinal rule) when we have real conversations. Oh well, getting better.

So, where is everyone? Work seriously is a summer-thief. It's exhausting and I have to be there seven days a week. You know what? Come and see me and that will brighten up my day considerably. I might even give you a discount.

La Parisien Bakery
Take 190 heading away from Garland/Rowlett and exit on Jupiter.
Pass the Jupiter light until you get to the next intersection: Avenue K.
Turn right on Avenue K go straight for a light.
The "bakery" is in that little strip of shops to the left of the light. Look for the guy waving a sign for 99 cent breakfast tacos in the morning. I think it's the first or second turn-in after that light.

We made tamales today. God, so much work!!

I went shopping yesterday. I bought two pairs of super cute heels, one purple and one glitzy black. Bath and Body Works is having that one sale where everything is dirt cheap and finally at a price that it sdeserves to be at, so I definitely took advantage of that. I also grabbed some cheap, but cool-looking jewelry and most importantly, I finally found the perfect bra (on sale two for $48, normally $30, what a steal!) Ask me and I'll tell you where! (:

Please let's go do something interesting.
