I have been subscribing on lj to the APOD news feed: http://syndicated.livejournal.com/apod/ . It basically delivers the astronomy picture of the day to your friends list each day, its a really good way of getting these images as I often forget to check the site. Just thought I would mention it incase anyone else is interested in doing it.
