So first,
Looking pensive on my bed.
With his look of "Yes...?" It's his equivalent of the raised eyebrow.
So he does this thing where he'll walk over to me and fall at my feet. Literally. Sometimes audibly. And then he will squirm around. It's pretty hilarious, so it got a picture. That's not agony he's writhing in, it's "Person!!!!"
So I have a bit of a quandary. I'm undecided about his name. The shelter named him Boots. Um, no. Then when I visited, he seemed like a Lucas. Of course, he also seemed laid-back (that sooo changed). Then he was a Simon, which is where we are currently. Simon just seemed to kind of fit. So I've been telling people that his name is Simon. After getting to know him better, though, he's more of a Dean, which is ironically what I was planning on naming the cat that I almost adopted. He flirts non-stop (he has actually pulled out my tank and stuck his face in my cleavage and his favorite place to sleep is in between my legs (on top of the covers, pervs)). Women fawn over him. He has a total oral fixation (he has woken me up several times by chewing on my arm. When I sit, he tries to chew on my toes. When we first met he kept chewing on my fingers.) You know season 1 Dean's cheesy grin? The whole, "'Must you cheapen the moment?' 'Yes.'" thing? The comment "I think I'm adorable"? He exudes that. He's such a little shit, but so damned endearing and charming that it's impossible to stay mad at him. He is totally a Dean, just without the man-angst. Oh! Except that he does! He totally has this whole, "Please don't leave me I don't want to be alone why don't you love me????" thing that he expresses by wailing (which has thankfully tapered off).
So I give you a poll.
Poll Simon vs. Dean In other news, I totally got to see Kate Voegele on Monday night. She was ridiculously good. And yeah, I'm a little embarrassed b/c I found out about her from "One Tree Hill," but she was in Columbia, MO and I had to go.
So
katma and I got there waaay early. Ticketmaster said she went on at 6:30, which I thought was a little weird, but hey. Turns out the doors opened at 6:30. Since we are prepared people, we got there about 6. In cute clothes. Like, skirts with heels. But see, Columbia is a college town, and I had apparently forgotten just how casual college was. We were waaaay overdressed (but hot). So we made an aborted attempt at getting food, and as we were walking to get to the bathroom, I looked at one of the people in the coffee shop/greek eatery we were in (like you do), and the girl in the front of the shop with the laptop was Kate Voegele! The very person we were there to see! And like the stalker-fan that I am I totally asked if she would be willing to take a picture with me. She was sooo sweet! She said that she would also be doing pics and signings at the meet and greet after the show, but it could get chaotic so she was more than happy to do a pic then. She was super nice. She asked if I was going to the show and I told her that we had driven in from St. Louis just to see her. She's kinda ridiculously pretty in person, and also insanely tiny. I think we may be the same height, but I was in heels, and she was in sneakers, so I actually look tall next to her.
After that we bummed around for a while waiting for the show to start. When we went in, they actually asked if we were over 21 and carded both of us. I think we were 2 of about 10 people there who were. We both got CDs (which we had already bought on iTunes, so now we have 4 copies between the two of us) so that we could do the meet and greet and have things for her to sign. (
katma also got a very cute t-shirt, but it looked like the largest size would be a bit boobtastic on her, so I knew I had no hope and did without).
The opening guy, Kelly James, was pretty good. He was super funny. He actually kind of reminded me of a white Chris Rock. He was followed by The Whitest Light, who were also pretty good. Good enough that we jointly bought their CD after the show. During their set I went to the Greek eatery next door and smuggled some spinach pie into the venue wrapped in napkins and shoved into my purse. We then ate and distanced ourselves from the evidence. Actually, we watched all three performers from different seats. Kelly James we saw from our actual seats, The Whitest Light we moved up to the second balcony row for, and Kate we saw from the first balcony row. I mean, it was a small venue, so balcony doesn't mean bad. It was still close enough that we could still clearly see all of their faces.
And then Kate. Not sure what was going on with her outfit. She had a puffy sleeved blue dress on with red cowboy boots. I could forgive either one of those things, but not together. It grew on me, though, and she made it work. She was fabulous. So high energy and wonderful. Good audience interaction. She said at one point that she was glad to see all of us, and she knew that some people had driven pretty far to be there (woo-hoo shout out to us!). She sounds very similar to how she does on her cd, which I take to mean that she can actually sing and it's not just studio magic (and whoa can she sing). She rocked her set, which was most of her cd "Don't Look Away." I'll get the set list that we wrote down and edit this with the exact order later. I recorded my two favorite songs, which was fabu. Not much else to say about her actual set, except more effusive praise. Well, her keyboard player was (probably still is) pretty hot.
After that we bummed around in line for the meet and greet. Way exciting. I stole (with retroactive permission) a show poster for her to sign. While we were in line we bought The Whitest Light cd (one of the band members was imploring people to do so, and we were thinking about buying it anyway, so we did. And later we made him sign it.) We got pictures with Kate and she signed our stuff. She remembered me! I was very excited. And then we left.
The kid at the gas station we stopped at for provisions and gas (shockingly enough) was so high. Liek woa. And that was our night.
And now I will sleep, for I am tired, but first I need to go to the bathroom and see if I'm gushing blood from the furrows that my cat just dug into my back.
