OMG, I need to get a real life! (That's actually looming on the horizon, so fear not, Self, all this free time you're blowing is going to disappear next week.)
I've got a new fandom addiction: hp_alternity. It's a wonderfully-fresh HP rpg, which is beginning at the beginning with Harry's first year at Hogwarts, but which is re-imagining the story with the twist that Voldemort did not "die" in the 1981 attack on the Potters. Instead, Voldemort is now Lord Protector of an authoritarian New United Kingdom. Harry has been raised by Voldemort as a foster son (and is known as Harry Marvolo).
The game is only beginning its third week of play, so you are not too late to catch up. And! there is a fan journal, alt_fen, that includes weekly summary posts to help bring you up to speed. (Do note that the game is being played as actively on the individual character journals as on the community, so you'll need to follow the community's Members page as well.)
Take my word for it: this is a cool game so far. You should check it out.

- For those to whom this will make a difference: this game is being played by a group that includes several members of the late, great and-much lamented nocturne_alley. The overall style is very similar; the plot seems on its way to being equally satisfying; and the characters are developing into intriguing versions of Rowling's creations, shaped by the importantly new circumstances of the game's AU.
