Terrorism

Wow... and the extremists strike again... Why must we resort to hatred and violence to express our opinions? I mean, how does bombing innocent people on their way to work make a statement, other then you are ruthless and heartless? I guess it reminds me alot of Sept. 11 and hearing that my cousin knew two little girls on one of the planes. She used to babysit for them. They and their family were on their way to Disney World and instead went straight into one of the twin towers. What did they have to do with anything? Two sweet, innocent little girls just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Its the same thing with all of those Londoners just on their way to work. What did they do to deserve this? Nothing.

Of course we know how England and the USA will respond. More troops in Iraq and higher alert status in the country. I just hope that there are no retaliations against the muslims in London. There is a high population of muslims. I am very thankful that Blair made the clear distinction between a terrorist and a muslim. When I was studying in the south of France, many of my closest friends were muslim and I had a huge exposure to the culture (granted, it was Northern African and not Middle Eastern but still). Islam really is a religion of peace and acceptance. Allah in normal Islam would never accept what the terrorists are doing in his name. I believe that Blair made a good move in defending the muslims in his country.

I'm so thankful that everyone I knew who was abroad came home. I worry about more bombing in the rest of Europe. I have some good friends in Paris at the moment and I pray that there is no continuation of the violence. I hope that everyone who studied in Europe did not lose anyone during this tragedy. I will be sure to pray for peace tonight, along with the rest of the world.
