Happy 4th Anniversay!!!
It's getting close to my four year anniversary. In July it will be exactly four years since my last relaxer. It's completely grown out and now I rock a 'fro. I love it, I mean absolutely LOVE it!!!
It's funny, if you asked me then how I felt about going natural, I'd give an optimistic answer, but I was scared. I would try to be brave, list all the reasons for my decision, both logical and emotional, but I was still scared. I had all these people lecturing me about cutting my hair, when so many others were trying to grow it, weave it to achieve it, etc. There were definitely a lot of people who were negative about the whole process and now some of those same people are natural as well.
I have no regrets, except I wish I had done it a little bit sooner. I've wanted to go natural since my freshman year of college, but I really let others and my attachment to my long, straight hair discourage me. It would have been awesome to transition in college, where everyone seems to know someone who braids or has some hair expertise. My hair journey could've been a little bit easier, but maybe I wasn't ready.
So whether it's straight, curly, long, short, relaxed, natural, weaved, braided, a wig... as long as it's your choice, then it's beautiful. Do your thing and be happy.
