prompt suggested by dreamoscope:i like to pretend everything is alright sometimes. because when everyone thinks you're fine, for a little while you forget that you're not.

[in sum]: Suzy thinks she is in love.
note: there were so many things i wanted to do with this prompt/threesome. and this is the result. OTL i am definitely planning on writing more of these three though ;)

all in your head

Suzy knows that this is not true love. It's infatuation. Lust. Perhaps misplaced affections or perhaps jealousy over someone who used to be close to Suzy.

Definitely not love. Because it's only when Jieun starts to blush prettily in front of Wooyoung that Suzy feels a little something for Wooyoung's smile.

He laughs and it literally sounds like: "Heh, heh, heeee-h", in the same tone as Nelson from the Simpsons. But even so, Suzy's breathing gets a little erratic. Something inside of her heart goes haywire because it's beating off it's rhythm.

"Here" Suzy sees Wooyoung mouth to her.

"Huh?"

Something is thrown her way and by reflex she grabs it mid-air. it's warm to the touch.

"Hot pack" whispers Wooyoung with a little smirk. "You look like you need it. The tip of your nose is pink."

§

"Wooyoung oppa took me out to dinner last night" whispers Jieun.

They're supposed to be quiet on set, but right now, neither of them are in the scene.

"What?!" yells Suzy by accident.

The director shouts, "Cut!" and they have to shoot the whole scene over again. When the back of Suzy's neck prickles something fierce, it's not because she has just embarrassed herself in front of the whole drama crew.

She picks at the shell of her ear, just because she's too red in the face to look at anyone right now. And she tucks up the collar on her parka, feigning defense against the cold.

"Stupid oppa" she mutters under her breath.

Jieun only hears the "stupid" part though. And when Jieun keeps apologizing profusely about the mishap, Suzy feels a dull pang of guilt and a rising level of frustration. It works out for her when she has to act out her next scene. Daddy dearest is being annoying and Suzy cries and hits Park Hyuk Kwon ahjusshi harder than she planned.

"Wow, way to find your character's emotional center Suzy" compliments her onscreen father.

Suzy bows, apologizing for her rather spicy hands, and everything is laughed off. It was a good shoot after all. They end quicker than scheduled. Everyone's happy enough to go home early and get in a couple more hours of sleep before the next filming. But oddly, Suzy feels bothered, annoyed, and she ends up snapping at her manager in front of Taecyeon oppa.

Taecyeon leans in close because there aren't any other people around. Even if there were, Suzy thinks he might have done it anyway to instigate a scandal for the sake of free promotion. Suzy rolls her eyes.

She flinches when she realizes that she's just being a jerk. Why does she feel this way? Taecyeon asks her a similar question.

"What's up with you today?" he asks.

Though they're supposed to be love interests in the drama, Taecyeon takes it upon himself to act as Suzy's surrogate father sometimes. And sometimes, it gets on her nerves.

"Nothing" she says flippantly, looking away. "Just puberty I guess."

Taecyeon laughs, but still stares with worried eyes. It bothers her more than it should.

"What?" she asks, frowning.

"I don't know if you've noticed, what with going through puberty and all, but Jieun seemed pretty upset today too."

Something inside of Suzy's chest freezes. Jieun. She'd forgotten to consider Jieun's feelings. She'd been so caught up in her own jealousy that...

"Thanks oppa" Suzy says hurriedly. She whips out her phone to call Jieun and behind her, Taecyeon smiles showing his teeth.

"Now that's the Bae Suji I know!"

§

They share a large chocolate shake. The waiter has put both their orders in one large cup and has stuck two straws in it. A couple's drink.

Jieun shyly fixes her glasses on her nose.

"You drink first" Jieun tells her. "I'll drink after you finish."

"Don't be silly" Suzy says gruffly. "We can drink at the same time."

Though Jieun is technically older than her, Suzy and Jieun have never thought of each other in an unni-dongsaeng type of way. Nothing more or less than friends.

"Or have I?" wonders Suzy.

Because as their faces draw closer to each take a straw between their lips, Suzy notices how soft Jieun's skin looks and how adorable the way Jieun puckers her lips seems. During the time they sip from their milkshake, Suzy can't seem to take her eyes off of Jieun's face.

It's only when there's the sound of the sucking of dry air at the bottom of the glass that Suzy realizes. Jieun keeps on peeking at her uncomfortably and Jieun's lips have already left her straw.

"You must have been thirsty" Jieun notes with a small smile. "You nearly drank the whole thing in one shot!"

Suzy knows that Jieun's just teasing. But suddenly, she feels self-conscious about her own staring and how beautiful Jieun's looking, even in her regular clothes. So instead of laughing it off, Suzy yells, "No I didn't!"

It sends Jieun into peals of laughter. And that, in turn, quickly settles the feeling rising up in Suzy's gut.

Jieun is just a friend. A friend.

But Suzy can't stop thinking bitterly about how their meeting here won't get as much media attention as Jieun's and Wooyoung's meal together.

§

Suzy feels conflicted. Not only is she overwhelmed by emotion because of her acting and the drama, but there are two people playing tug of war with her heart. And the thing is...the whole thing might only exist in her head.

"Hey" says Wooyoung when he's done with make-up. "Have you seen the new script?"

Suzy nods but Wooyoung draws closer anyway. He leans in, offering her a view of his copy of the script and puts an arm around Suzy's shoulders.

"See? This part is where..."

But Suzy doesn't hear anything. She can't even laugh at the jokes being made because her chest is resounding like crazy. The thumping...surely people can hear it? Surely, it's not just in her head.

But then here comes Jieun.

"What are you guys looking at?" she asks shyly. Her eyes are uncertain. She's still not too familiar with the cast members, other than Suzy and Wooyoung. Wooyoung's the one that beckons Jieun over.

"Look at this scene" Wooyoung cackles.

Jieun places a small hand on Suzy's arm and holds her hand lightly. It's just to get a better look of the script being shared between the three of them. But Suzy feels something like a gentle trickle all over her back. Like someone's just poured cold soda over her head with the carbonation sending soft chills along her spine. And though that sensation should feel unpleasant, Suzy feels herself leaning in for more.

"You okay?"

Suddenly, Wooyoung's voice cuts through Suzy's thoughts. And Suzy realizes that she's been closing her eyes and swaying on the balls of her feet.

"You look pale" Jieun says in a worried voice. "You want to sit down?"

Suzy lets herself be guided to a chair. Their hands are still on her, gently stroking her hair and patting her shoulder.

"Should I call your manager?"

Suzy shakes her head slowly.

"I'll be fine" she tells them.

She forces herself to smile believably.

"I'll be fine" she repeats. "Trust me. I'll be fine."

Wooyoung and Jieun take a step back and look on with worried eyes.

"Then we'll give you some time to rest" they say, turning to leave the room. "Call us if you need us."

Suzy's glad that she's been taking acting lessons. Though she's not the best, she's believable and she's grateful for that.

"I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm really just fine."

And as long as she keeps repeating those words and as long as she keeps her eyes open, she really is just fine.
