My comment on Sandywhank '08 and other misc happenings

1. Well, now that it appears that Sandy herself has officially refuted the unflattering!Jared rumors surrounding their breakup--tho she *did* confirm their split :( --I have just one thing to say about the entire business.

For me, the only good thing to come out of this: that I got to see a picture of Jared and his family.

It's always fascinating to me to see someone's parents and/or siblings, and see where the resemblances come from, who shares the same features, etc. It's fascinated me ever since I produced my own spawn and see each child's own distinct amalgam of characteristics. My oldest has my eyes, his dad's dimpled chin and bone straight hair, and from someone (Aunt Patti?) he has freckle-free skin that tans like a dream (and yes I'm jealous of that.) My youngest has his dad's eyes, my freckles and skintone, and his maternal g'ma and paternal g'pa's curly hair.

Ages ago, I saw a pic of Jensen and his dad (who I'd seen before in Devour) and his brother. So I wanted to see a family pic of Jared to see who he looked like, and if his siblings looked similar. (Heck, I saw a photo of the Dohring twins is SI, so I got to see the family resemblance there as well.)

You don't know how many times I've almost asked if any of my flisters had a pic of Jared and his kin, because I thought it would seem stalkery or invasive. Really it's just a curiosity thing.

Plus I always wonder if the beautiful people are just the happy accident of all the attractive genes in their lineage lining up just the right way. Goodness knows there are folks for whom the opposite has happened (Christie Brinkley's and Olivia Newton John's daughters come to mind, bless their hearts.)

So the (now deleted) family pic I saw of the JPad clan was interesting to me.

Other than that, I'm sad for Jared and Sandy. They both seem so nice and smart (and dangit, so pretty together), and I wish only good things for them both in the future.

I know that folks are/were worried about someone mentioning the situation at the con this weekend, but I think if they invited the fans into their personal lives by talking about their relationship at a con (appearing together at that con) then to some extent the nosy, inappropriate fangirl is a monster of their own creation. For all the gracious fangirls, there will always be the one who acts like an ass.

And that's all I have to say about that.

2. I saw the SATC movie last weekend with my two girlfriends (LOVED it!) and the random subscription I have begun to receive from Vogue (if you knew me, you'd know how hilarious that is) sent me a FAB photo story of Carrie & Big's imagined honeymoon. Guh, I <3 Big. *swoon*

3. Today we raced to the local Best Buy when they opened and snagged ourselves a Wii. The WiiFits were sold out, but we and the boys are having fun being really bad at all the games. I'll have to get in line some future Sunday to get the WiiFit.

4. I think this week I'm going to start Weight Watchers again. They have a class Wednesday at lunch in an office 7 floors down from mine. It honestly cannot get any more convenient than that, and god knows I need to do SOMETHING. I'm tired of having such a limited wardrobe because nothing fits anymore, plus I just look like crap. (Not to other people, but to myself.) I'm ready for a change. I'll have to cut way back on the MtnDew, but it's time I do that anyway. My kidneys will thank me, I'm sure.
