I have become increasingly domestic-minded recently, and here are my thoughts.

I want to live a nomadic or semi-nomadic life. I don't know if I would ever want a house to stay in forever. Apartments seem like a much more manageable option to me. Any way that restricts me from buying stuff that can't be moved, or has to be packed in a garage is ideal. But I want tools to build stuff with (mostly a table saw, drill press, circular saw, and jig saw), and they don't allow those in apartments or apartment balconies. And a quarter horse. They don't allow horses in apartments.

I just built a yurt. Seriously, these things are used as suburban homes in Mongolia (called "ger" there). I could see myself living in one as a permanent structure in some place that doesn't get so damned hot. Or maybe leaving it on a plot of land as a vacation house. Or as a smaller spot on a large ranch type of land?

And I found a group of contractors, architects, and builders who construct castles. From the 700k to 3 million dollar range. But it's a fucking castle. Insulated, plumbed, wired, the whole deal. And a castle along the beach, or in the mountains? Hell yes. Nevermind the infinite ability to host Dagorhir events from my home. That would be wicked sweet. I'd have a ton of yurts set up around it, a stable and a field for my future horse. Yes. Or I could do like Genghis Khan and just use it for storage and set up my yurt outside.

Living at home is easy, sure, but I know soon I will be able to live in my own place. I guess the biggest concern is getting tied down to a place that isn't my own. I'll see what I come up with.

And I have travel bug. Traveling became reasonably affordable for me, and I want to do it.

And I want to go to Hungary and China and Mongolia and Thailand and Europe.

I wonder how a teacher salary can hold up to this...
