The Atlanta Journal Constitution is running a powerful story by Jane O. Hansen on what happened at Charity Hospital and Tulane Hospital in New Orleans during and immediately after Katrina struck.
http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/twohospitals/entries/2006/05/05/about_the_series.html The story is in 22 installments, we're currently on #8; all will be available on the web. One thing that concerns me is the lack of analysis of why the private hospital was able to summon help and evacuate patients and staff while the public hospital waited and waited for help from the government which didn't happen.
I'm hoping that analysis is still to come.
