Indications that you might just be in with a shot at a really interesting position - when the person doing the interviewing responds to your CV with 'It's a small world - your reference Joe.Bloggs (real name redacted to protect the guilty) is a good friend of my husbands!'
For those who I haven't gleefully scampered around telling about this - it's a information management position with a government department. That's right, girls and bots - my childhood dream of becoming a hot librarian may be about to come true : )
Of course, that being said, it'll probably all fall down in a screaming pile of screams. But damnit, it's nice being enthusastic about work again!
