Yuletide Letter 2015

Dear Yuletide Author,

First of all: thank you so so much. You are my hero. The wind beneath my wings. You must be super-awesome to have matched with me, right?

Secondly: NO PRESSURE. I have no doubt that I will love what you write. Because we matched, right?

Thirdly:

one. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
Illya Kuryakin, Napoleon Solo, Gaby Teller
To say that I ship Illya and Solo is an understatement. This canon, however, is one in which I'll embrace any combination of the three main characters, but I would adore anything that explores Illya's repressed emotion and Solo's stunted emotion and Gaby's extreme competence.

I'd enjoy an episodic fic, a mission - if it's set in canon era, so much the better, but I'll also gladly accept any era that you're comfortable with writing. Spy shenanigans, double-crossing, misunderstandings, enemies to frenemies to lovers, if Illya and Napoleon are front and centre, with a bit of blood and bruising, I'll be so so happy.

two. Guild Hunter - Nalini Singh
Illium
I can't even express how much I adore Illium. He's the archetype of characters I love, but more. I love his good nature and his vanity, and also the fact that he is a badass motherfucker when called for. I would love to read about his love for the mortal, or his upbringing, or his friendship/relationship with Aodhan, with whom I ship him like woah. I would gladly read about his feelings for Elena (friendship or unrequited love?) and struggling with the fact that his growing strengh means he'll soon have to be his own Power. Illium the Archangel? Yes, please.

three. The Martian (2015)
Any characters.

Having loved the book, I also adored the movie. This is the kind of setting where I would read any amount of world-building. I'd love to know about the training the Ares 3 crew underwent. We caught glimpses of it in those YouTube teasers and we got hints of their various personalities. My secret (not so secret) desire is to read about how the romance between Beck and Johanssen came about. I would read any number of scenes between them, any amount of frankly fucking awkward flirtation. Beck talking to Watney for romantic advice? Because that would clearly end well.

What happens to the crew when they come home and how do they reach those happy epilogues we see at the end of the movie?

Would the rest of them, aside from Martinez, go back into space? Would they go back to Mars in the future? Would their children? TELL ME EVERYTHING

four. The Losers (2010)
Jake Jensen, Carlos "Cougar" Alvarez

My true loves. I love Jensen and Cougar, so so much. This is a canon in which I would embrace any number of AUs, as happily as I would read pre-canon or post-canon. As might have become apparent, throughout my request and this letter and all letters, I adore get-together so I would absolutely adore any story in which Jensen and Cougar get together. They're such an unlikely pair, in some aspects, so however did they end up together? What attracted them to each other? I'm a real sucker for those stories in which they communicate together far better than anyone else and they can interpret each other's rambling and silence, respectively. I'd also really love anything that gets into their characters. From the comics, we know that Cougar has dealt with some massive trauma but what about Jensen? What makes him tick? I don't really buy into the idea that his constant chatter is anything but a smokescreen for the fact that he's very smart and capable.

five. Arsenal RPF
Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Debuchy

Ah, my secret love. These men love each other, no joke. While I am more than happy with canon - what about when Mat joined Arsenal? Or after that kiss in the French national team? Or helping each other through injuries? - I would be so happy with any manner of AU here, from the mundane to the superheroic. I love the idea that they could have a love through the ages. Reincarnation AU, anyone? And though I ship them so much, I'm totally okay with exploring their obviously deep bond on any level of intimacy or not.

six. Supurbia (Comics)
Paul Fritsche, Gio Taviani

MENTOR/SIDEKICK. It's basically my favourite thing in superhero canons and I would really love to see how Paul and Gio's relationship evolved, from, maybe, a relatively chaste and respectful beginning to something that's flawed, with Paul's infidelity. I'd love a really in-depth look at their relationship but I also love how the comics end, and the hope for Gio and his recovery and the fact that Paul is there to help him through that recovery. Of course, there are going to be fuck-ups but there's so much optimism that maybe they can learn to live together, and perhaps be superheroes together, again.

FINALLY: I love fluff and happy endings, though I don't mind a good gut-punch of an ending either. I don't mind violence, especially if it's canon-typical, but I don't like non-consensual relationships, MPREG or BDSM. I love world-building and character studies and, honestly, if you don't ship what I ship, I don't mind in the least.

I will gladly read any combination of the characters in these canons (and if you're feeling wild and want to do some amazing Martian/Guild Hunter/Supurbia/Losers crossover with Arsenal players and Man from U.N.C.L.E spies, I am hardly going to complain. :D )

yuletide
