Long overdue meme

Nov 07, 2007 19:34

A while ago I asked for questions from people for the 5 questions meme.  And then I got busy and didn't get around to answering them.

So in an attempt to catch up on things here are the questions and my replies for
okosut

1. You've talked about wanting to go to Mars. Do you still want to? How likely do you think it is?

Mars!!!   Yes, I would still love to go.  It would be the ultimate vacation! I haven't yet been able to travel as much as I would like to here on Earth, so traveling to Mars I'm thinking will be fairly unlikely in the grand scheme of things.

2. Follow up: When you get to Mars, and you meet the Martians, what's the first thing about humanity that you teach them (after you figure out how to communicate)?

So, I could try to be all profound with this question and choose a trait to exemplify humanity as being this wonderful group of people, like love or continual search for knowledge.  I could be bitter and jaded and introduce them to things like war or politics.  But that's kinda like saying "Here are the French.  They are arrogant and frivolous.  Here are the Americans.  They are bullies and cowboys."  Or whatever your favorite stereotype is.  I would try to do the teach by immersion sort of thing and convince them to come back to Earth with me and then organize a huge trip all over earth so they can experience all the different cultures and values and everything.  (Plus with this I get to also travel all over Earth *grin*).

3. How do you think having an unusual name has affected your personality?

I've certainly developed the trait of being amused when people can't pronounce my name.  And I do enjoy the fact that I'm somewhat of an unusual person in regards to "normal".  But whether this is due to the fact I have an unusual name I have no idea.

4. (I keep using this question, but I like it) Is heaven a restaurant or a library?

I don't blame you for using this question a lot.  I think it's a really good question.   So...

I love reading.  I can get so totally lost reading a good book.  Books are wonderful and the library is a wonderful, wonderful place.  But heaven would have to be a restaurant.  There's something so supremely satisfying about eating a good meal.  Even more so when you're enjoying the company of those around you while eating.  It's an activity that engages all your senses.  And of course I can't forget the fact that restaurants can involve the eating of chocolate in any of its many wonderful forms  :)

5. If you could transplant one aspect of Boscamberville into St. Louis, what would it be?

I would transplant the people.  There's always fun, unique things to do in every city, but I really miss everyone...   If I had to choose actual things, it would be all the different tasty ethnic restaurants within easy access.  Or maybe a decent form of public transportation and the whole walkability aspect of places.  Hmm.....  I can be so indecisive sometimes.
