I just watched the first episodes of Kings, and much as I liked it, I'm getting kind of stuck on the idea of Reverend Samuels. I'm fine with having a blond-haired and blue-eyed David, but it'd be nice if they didn't use a specifically Christian term for the prophet Samuel. They could have called him Prophet! They could have used "priest" instead. We used to have priests! High priests! Priests who wore silly garments and ritually bathed and sacrificed goats! But we sure as hell never had any reverends. And that one title really makes me feel like they're making a compromise for the majority of their viewers at the expense of, well, me.
