At about 3 in the morning last night, I remembered that I had located several links for watching the latest DCAU movie, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, and sat down to watch it. It should be noted that I *didn't* fall asleep while watching it, which is probably the highest compliment I can give. I mean, this movie already had one major strike

But yeah, you just pointed out something that I've had issues with both Marvel and DC with for years now. They need to use the Alphas a lot less, because they keep forgetting that a creative enough use of said Alpha's power could solve the problem pretty damn quick. Find some reason the Alphas just can't be there, I don't care, but if the Alphas (and I include Aquaman on my Alpha list, since he could theoretically go toe-to-toe with just about any of the other big 7) are there, it'd better be one hell of a threat. =P

That's what was so great about Morrison's JLA run - they threats were so great it was possible a group of Alphas might still fail, and there hasn't been the same number and level of threats since.
But Aquaman? Really? He cannot go toe to toe with Superman. Or J'onn. Or any of the GLs. Or Power Girl. Or...a lot of other Alphas.

WHAT. I want to see this. And TBH, the Superfriends cartoon didn't care about a lot of things. Like avoiding racism and good animation...and I know it's very old :)
And I want to point out I don't hate Aquaman - I mean, he's not in my top ten, but I *adore* him on the Brave and the Bold cartoon. He is probably the best version of the character I've seen, just straight up hilarious.

Heck, somewhere, I've got a nice big collection of scans of stuff that's about... 3 or so? We'll go with 3, for argument's sake. Anyway, 3 years worth of the stuff in all the stories leading up to, and each of their parts of Infinite Crisis. There were a good few Aquaman issues in that 9 Gig collection, and they rocked. Arthur done right is one of the coolest characters I've ever read. Even that brief team-up he had with Kyle, before the League came back, was pretty damned cool. Especially the part where Donna timed Kyle coming back to ask exactly where Arthur was, so he could go out and help him. We just don't really get writing like that anymore *sniffle*.

What issue number was that? I really want to read it now.

*thumbs through GL: Baptism of Fire* According to this, it were Aquaman #10. A quick hunt of Wikipedia says he's had 6 runs of his title, and date-checking says it were volume 5 you'll be looking for. So there you go. Aquaman vol 5 #10. Happy reading! =D
(if you can't find it anywhere, let me know. I can temp-host it on my webspace once I find it amongst the GL discs I have)
