Acquisitions

Chris took this week off to do a combination of job hunt and relax. I am taking tomorrow off so we can take the Jeep on it's first long trip. We'll be going up to the rim for cooler weather and letting Tristan run around in the forest like a maniac.

Yesterday Susanne helped me clean and band Kitt's mane in prrparation for her yearly shave. I chopped everything but her forelock and wither tuft. I shaved the area over her withers in the past and regretted it because there is no hand hold. I neef to get clippers out and make it look halfway decent so it doesn't look like such a hack job.

Today we wandered over to Desert Saddlery. Chris picked up a new lead rope for Ruby and I acquired several things that I have been meaning to. I am unsure about the riser pad. We will see how it goes. Darlene said I could bring it back if it doesn't work. It is for Charm-N who is a bit uphill and because of how she's conformed the saddles tend to look like they're going to slide backwards and my students' position suffers accordingly. The saddle has yet to actually slip, but i am hoping the riser pad improves things.

I also picked up a 50" girth as the 17.5" general purpose saddle has slightly shorter billets than my 16.5" one, which put me in a weird place with girths. The final acquisition is a new pad as the billet keepers are starting to die on some of the older ones and I don't need pads slipping out from underneath saddles.

I can now stop saying "I need to eventually get ..." about the riser pad and the girth.
