Connection Frustrations

So apparently new Mac computers don't have the Firewire 400 anymore so I went without my external HD and scanner for a few days before I was able to borrow and adapter cable from my parents. Then came the realization that my little dial-up modem does not work on the new computer either! AT ALL. Apparently dial-up just isn't an option. It is impossible to believe that someone can have a super nice, shiny computer and not have high-speed internet.

Chris and I had talked in the past about trying to connect up with Dave and Marty's internet, but their signal wasn't quite strong enough for me to pick it up. Little known to me Chris had picked up a more powerful router for me for Christmas, which I got to open the other day because, well, he had to take it back because *drumroll.*

We will be getting DSL on the 20th! It's actually a bit cheaper than what we've been doing for dial-up (paying for two phone lines plus 'net service).

I had some issues this morning and yesterday getting my scanner to scan. Still working through all of my old negatives and getting them to a digital format (almost done with those honeymoon photos from forever ago!). I'd scan it, but it wouldn't save on the second HD, turned out the permissions were set weird and I was able to fix it (after scanning the same image 10 times...).

In other news we might have found a home for Toby! Aliki came out and looked at him a week ago Wednesday and took him home. She'll be working with him/trying him out until she 1) decides she wants to keep him and can afford him or 2) sends him back with some more work under saddle than he might have had otherwise.

Time to get off my lazy haunch and go accomplish something.
