In Utah

Chris and I spent the day roving about and visiting temples. Unfortunately the grounds are apparently closed on Sundays, but that's okay.

We started with the mount Timpanogos and then shuffled over to the Draper temple, which I believe was dedicated in the last year. Next on the list was the Jordon River temple followed very quickly by the Oquirrh, which is just four miles down the road from the Jordon. The final templle was the Bountiful, which is quite similar to the Timpanogos in design.

It only took us about four hours total. Need I say that Utah has a crazy amount of temples? Of course with that many temples you can imagine how many meeting houses there are. I don't think you could look anywhere and not see a church steeple.

What's probably even more unbelievable is that we passed there other temples. We didn't go to Salt Lake, but it played hide and seek between the buildings as we passed by on the freeway. We skipped both Provo and Ogden as well. We've been to Salt Lake several times and Provo as well. Ogden has the same design as the Provo temple, which isn't the most aesthetically pleasing design I do admit.

It was a good drive though. We initially planned on heading up to Logan too, but passed as it would have added three hours and we were about ready for dinner.

I do admit it will be rather nice once Arizona gets the three new temples that are due. The one in Gila Valley should be done in March and will be open to the public until the end of April for the open house. They haven't broken ground yet on the Gilbert temple, which will be prettty close to us. There is one in Phoenix too that has had some push back by residents around it, but it has been approved, though I don't know when they'll break ground on it either.

We plan on taking the snowmobiles out this next week, which should be fun. We dunked about in the pasture on them yesterday, which was quite fun. I don't know how people get going so fast on those things. Twenty mph feels prett fast on those things, 30 is quite exhilarating, but the speedometer goes up to 120, which is just insane!

Oh yes, yesterday we met up with Alicia and her boyfriend Don for dinner. Wish we could have hung out a bit longer, but they were quite late and we didn't want to be heading back down the canyon too late. We sunlanders don't care much for the thought of ice on roads.

So we're enjoying the snow and each other's company, it's been quite a while since we've been on vacation just the two of us for any length of time.
