Odd title, I know, but I need to be able to look it up to see how long they lasted. Mom picked up some new cross ties that are the bungee type and have some give if a horse steps back or pulls, we'll see how well they work.
Kevin didn't show up yesterday, so I'm going to give him a call later after I get myself some lunch. So Kash is still shoeless, which means I'll probably take Panda or Ruby out tomorrow when Mom and I do a quick jaunt around the neighborhood.
Training with Kim went pretty well yesterday. Panda's really starting to loosen up a bit and flowing better. It has improved her trot and it is a little easier to sit now. It's still quite a powerful, forward movement and she picks up her feet quite well, but it isn't as jarring and up-and-down as it was. We tried getting Panda to canter, but failed miserably. The mare just isn't balanced enough yet to canter on a circle. Kim even got on her for a bit and didn't have much success getting Panda to pick it up.
It was interesting to see Kim ride Panda and see how they work together from the ground rather than riding blind on top. Panda's quite a nice looking horse and moves well. She can round up a bit and she's learning to flex at the poll a lot better. It's amazing to see the improvement from when we first got her, to when I first took her to Kims, to now. She's young, willing to learn, and quite a quick study once she understands what is being asked.
Kim suggested putting Panda back in the roundpen for a bit to work on her canter, getting the mare to balance herself before we ask her under saddle.
All drawn from stock photos except for the Shamien, of course. I need to do more referenced work to beat some more anatomy and such into my brain. I love being able to sketch and draw freely without something to look at, but I realize if I want to improve I need to study more.
I need to work that little Strudel horse sometime this week, before Friday when I leave for UT.
