Since the pandemic isn't getting any better I finally just asked my dad about doing a contactless pick-up or drop off. He chose drop off and swung by this morning. I was filling Jolene's waterbucket and everyone else was inside. He passed slowly as he left and saw me, waved, exchanged some words and away he went ( Read more... )

It is glorious! The boys were fascinated.

Now to figure out where the serial number is so I can date it! I believe it is a KMM which were made from the mid 30's to late 40's from what I have found (including an owner's manual!).

To be determined! It looks like the model ran from the late 30's to the late 40's. Once I figure out where the serial number is I should be able to get a year!

This old typewriter reminds me of the Liturgical Mysteries books where the main character, while the organist and choir director at the local episcopal church AND the sheriff, also writes really really bad noir mysteries on his authentic typewriter.

It is fantastic, I love it and plan on getting it serviced and tuned up. It srill works, but a couple keys stick especially if you type fast. I love that it is something he used and kept for years. I'm pretty sure it is almost 70 yeara old.
