There have been 15 deaths in Arizona, so it more than doubled in the last three days. Not the numbers I want to see. We have over 770 official cases, but you know there are more, probably double at least, but the lack of testing kits is holding numbers down and the fact that half the tests are positive says we aren't testing enough.
I have another client that is going to back off until this is over. Fingers crossed we don't have to have a full lock-down.
Shiloh tried to jump THROUGH the small arena gate Wednesday, which I may have mentioned. He bent one side all up. Better yet, yesterday the dingbat crawled UNDER the gate and ripped the billets off the harness saddle in the process.
Kim told her husband about Wednesday and going into working him talked about how he doesn't want her to ride or drive him ever. So once I am done with him he is finding a new zipcode. He gets one more chance Monday to think about being a driving horse and if not I will be riding him the next five weeks instead. Monday I am going to try working him with the gate open and see what happens. I'll also be employing some positive reinforcement, which I have thought about, but didn't implement earlier. We'll see how he does Monday and go from there.
In happier news all three boys rode bareback today.
I might also be overly tired as I've slept terribly the last two nights.
Oh, Tru-D also seems to have turned a corner and be happier trotting around and doing things. She was getting a bit unhappy for reasons that are beyond me, but is finally settling in. I think somewhat regular work is helping. She always looks so eager and forlorn when I take the other horses out and she is left behind. She has a sad, little half-whinny she does calling to her long lost herdmates.
She even wore a bit for the first time in months, maybe even a year. One of these days I will attach reins to it.
I guess the good news is if we do go on full lock down I will have time to work my own horses! I might even figure out how to get two horses in for training at the same time so I can maintain something like income.
