Leilani's ride was much less eventful today. She still bunched up and tossed her head around, but her front feet stayed on the ground and we had a couple of decent trots. The last one she held until I asked her softly down and then I rubbed, praised, hopped off, and scratched her extra itchy spot. Liz has a chiro possibly coming out and will be looking into possible sadle fit issues. I told her it felt like the angle of the tree might be a little too acute for Leilani. She is wider than Pizazz despite being over two hands shorter. Liz also mentioned she thinks she noticed the scuff on Leilani's topline the day she initially was a bit grumpy about moving forward with a rider up so that might have been a contributing factor. It is healing, but if there was bruising underneath she may have had plenty of reason to be a bit grumpy.
Yesterday it was nice getting on Grace again who is quite forward in her trot since she discovered she can go more than five strides in it. Dawn has started doing short walking rides on her and even got on a few times while I was out of town.
In more gross news while mucking out the colt's pen we found some giant (thankfully) dead worms in his poop. The dewormer Tuesday is working! The food grade diatematious(sp?) earth Mike had been giving him did not. Tomorrow I'll be removing the last holdout ticks and working with his feet again. He'll get another bath on Tuesday because it says to wait a week between.
