Aufwiedersehen, Eden...

My client Debbie had to put down her mare last night. What started out as a seemingly mild colic when she called me for some advice turned into a full-blown emergency an hour later. She started just under 40bpm and, just slightly uncomfortable and then it shot up over 100 and she was in real distress by the time the vet got there.

We had even just been talking about how we had reached our goals with the pair of them: getting Debbie comfortable riding Eden around the neighborhood and even solo. It wasn't perfect yet, but Debbie had the tools to keep herself comfortable and safe and give Eden the direction she needed. I guess the old mare (only 19) stuck around just long enough.

She was a nice little mare, sensitive and forward, but looking for guidance. I will miss working with her.
