Yo LJ, wassup!
It's been a while! I've been so busy ^_^ I'm sure you've all been waiting to hear about my summer. Uh huh right. Here is a summary (along with lots of photos) of Anime Expo, San Diego Comic-Con, and Anime Iowa. That's right, IOWA! Why Iowa? Because I got to tag along with a guest of honor :D Haaaaailz yeeeah.
Anime Expo: This con was a bust for me this year. I had been hesitant to go, and my gut was right. I am not returning to AX, and I prefer other cons that feel like home. Also I was at a disadvantage by not having a GIGANTIC display like everyone else. Ah well.
San Diego Comic-Con: Free ice cream anyone? That's right folks, besides some really nice free t-shirts and swag this year, there was a truck handing out free Ben and Jerry's!! Syfy had the best gigundous bag (it had straps to become a backpack), and I had THE BEST TIME at the Scott Pilgrim panel. It was totally awesome to discover I had the magic 1-UP button to go see the movie for free! Not only that, they had the featured DJs open, and ended with a live show from Metric. The Glee panel was cool too, but I wish they had more extras...I mean c'mon, you wait in line for that long, you deserve to give your fans a little sumthin sumthin. It was also cool to hear a lot of my favorite authors talk about writing and their genre. I am a BOOK NERD.
Anime Iowa: Iowa felt homey. It was nice! Definitely different from the big west coast cons. I had a great time talking to a lot of people. On the not so good side, I will admit I thought the dealer's room was kinda lame. Artist's alley was practically non-existent and it was all over the place. There was so much room and empty booths set up, there could've been more dealers. Or something.
