Amazon delivered American Idiot this morning, 9am again. Didn't wake up fer the doorbell, but luckily the thing fit through the letterbox, so I didn't have to go pick it up from somewhere. Copied the tracks onto my lappy, haven't decided which ones go on my Elite-MP3-Player-Playlist yet. American Idiot and Holiday for certain. At the moment, Holiday is my favourite track on the album. Two of the songs (Jesus Of Suburbia and Homecoming) are long 9 minute or so songs, but have five 'parts' which have their own names. Crazy, huh? Pretty good, though. A lot of the songs on this album seguey together, like Brain Stew and Jaded did on International Superhits, which is nice.
The album as a whole is quite different to other GreenDay music, sort of like a new direction. Theres some old-school style GreenDay in there, like in American Idiot, and Holiday too, but theres some more songs that remind me of Third Eye Blind in some places, and Dropkick Murphys some places, and Less Than Jake in others. Anyway, its a bit more varied than other albums, so it may not please everyone in all parts. Still, I like all of it a lot, a lot more than I did Shennanigans. I'll get back to you with my final verdicts when I've been listening to it for a week or so.
