I can respect that you feel that way. But I don't mind. She's helping to educate the public on what it was like to live then. Not enough people have an interest in the past, and understand how important archeology is. I'm sure that they will put her to rest eventually.

Besides, if I was that person, looking down on us, I'd be chuffed that so many people will be interested in me. I was an ordinary person then, wow, so much attention!

While Tutankhamen was re-buried in his tomb that has not been the fate of most of the known mummies in the world. The mummies of the rest of the 18th Dynasty rest in the Cairo Museum in Egypt. When mummified remains are discovered they are an opportunity for scientists to discover information about the past that can not be found in other ways.

I remember going to an exhibit of bog-mummies a few years ago and most of them were too far gone to elicit a reaction to them as the remains of humans. Any mummy as well preserved as this one is easy to see - and react to - as a human being, rather than the remains of a human.

This mummy is incredibly well preserved and yes, I agree that at first look you think she's alive. If her remains are displayed I hope it is in a low-light setting where she can be viewed with awe and sorrow, not like some side-show wonder.

As someone who has had training in both Archaeology and Anthropology, I've got two thoughts about this. First, she can't be put back. The minute she was, some private collector or treasure hunter would scoop her up, and probably do a botched job and cause damage. Also, regarding Tut, his tomb has a gate, a bolt a lock, and a guard.
Second, she is teaching us modern people about the life she led. Now, maybe she isn't being honored as a sacrifice to the Rain God, or a plea for a good harvest, but she is still being honored and treated with a certain reverence. They haven't forgotten that she was a human being, and a young girl. No decent person would. Even though she is on display, there is still the feeling that they want to treat her well.
sorry had to edit this.
