So, i have a distinct addiction. Everytime i'm working out, driving, sitting about with music on, i play the "this song will mean" game. I don't know if you've ever played it, i'll explain the rules. So before a song comes on you say..or think.."This song will predict my...(love life, summer break, winter break, weekend, best friend, soulmate,practice..ect.) Sometimes the songs tell you exactly what you want to here. For example-
Driving back from good ole North Carolina with Mindy..we were playing this game ( i like to get my friends addicted too) and i said, "this next song will be about our vaction." And whaddya know-"Hicktown" came on. What i've learned from this game is so philsophically deep, it's unreal.
I've learned that if you ask the for the same prediction to be made alot..everytime you play alot, the radio lord and master will start playing really random and obsure songs, (read:Honkytonk Badonkadonk) that there is no way you can infer a deeper meaning. It is funn though.
I've learned that sometimes when a song comes on that's the exact song that needs to come on, that it's hard to take it sometimes.
I've learned that you can make the songs mean whatever you want. For example-if you ask to know about this weekend. And a really unrelated song comes on, like..umm..XXL. (that song blows..btw) So, here you are with a shitty song and no prediction. Well, look deeper my friend. A XXL time of fun? Perhaps a XXL can of beer? Or a big, sexy, hick boy..y'know, it's open to interpratation.
I've learned that if you don't like the song, you can assume that the radio lord put the song he meant you to hear on another station. So, you change it, just because you can. It's not our fault the radio guy can't play the right song..and we deserve an accurate prediction. Sometimes, for sure, we spend so much time trying to infer somthing from the thing that's right infront of us, that we forget to check the other stations..you dig?
I've learn that this game is so entertaining to play with other people. Most of the best things in the world are better with other people. That's pretty sweet. I leave you with my new favorite song. I was playing the game, and i asked..i do believe about this summer. And this song came on. (OH! one more thing, if you ask a prediction, several times..hundreds of time, pick your favorite song out of the bunch. hehe)
Road And The Radio, The - Kenny Chesney
Ain't nothing out here but me
The Road and the Radio
Looking for an exit
And the song that I might know
Counting down the memories
Adding up the miles
Searching for a feeling
I ain't felt in awhile
Clarity and inspiration
Happiness is a destination
That's hard to find
It may take some time
But in my mind theres something more
And I'll open up a brand new door
And find the strength to close the ones I left behind
And I'll get there leaning on some friends I know
The Road and the Radio
Spent the night in Carolina
Got up early out of bed
Bought a red bull and roadmap and an old Stones cassette
Set my sights southbound
No reason or ryhme
Threw up a prayer just lookin'
Just lookin' for a sign
And some Clarity and inspiration
Happiness is a destination
That's hard to find
It may take some time
But in my mind theres something more
And I'll open up a brand new door
And find the strength to close the ones I left behind
And I'll get there leaning on some friends I know
The Road and the Radio
But in my mind theres something more
And I'll open up a brand new door
And find the strength to close the ones I left behind
And I'll get there leaning on some friends I know
The Road and the Radio
The Road and the Radio
