Went to go see Wonder Woman with a friend. Good movie, worth it! But oh my god, what is it with modern movies and being so poorly lit? There were scenes I could not see what was going on, this includes the kissing scene, of which I could see possibly 5/6ths of the screen, and none of the action that was meant to be focused on. And when things were not too dark to see, they were very very very blue.
Also, I saw some talk about there being a "twist", but I did not notice a twist? Unless that refers to the Villain Reveal, which, eh, I wouldn't call a twist but I guess some people might?
Also also, spoilery behind cut
there were moments when Ares was throwing around his power that I was like "is this meant to be Ares or Hephaestos", and then even a point of "okay, how did Zeus's powers come into this". They were just throwing around absolutley everything, I guess.
But, yeah, I think my overwhelming take-away from this movie was: WHY THE HELL CAN'T THEY LIGHT FILMS THESE DAYS, AND WHY IS EVERYTHING ALWAYS BLUE.
(on the blue note: there was in the pandorica episodes of doctor who a scene where, in a single scene, one pov was graded blue and the other was graded orange and it was so eye-strainingly-terrible.)
I know I'm focusing too much on what the film looked like and not what the film was about, but, y'know, if they don't want me to complain every single time about it, they could just fucking bother to light their films adequately in the first place. :P
