Vorkosigan AO3 Pairings Numbers
southern-continent-skies started this, doing a hand count of pairings to get numbers, and then
gostaks made a python script based on a bookmarklet by @flamebyrd to pull the works list with tags for all Vorkosigan fics.
With others doing the hard part, I jumped in to split out all the pairings, put them in their own row, put together a lookup table to go between pairing-as-tagged and pairing-as-canonical, and did some pivots on them.
Voila.
Notes:
- Fics show up multiple times, because each pairing has its own row. If a fic had 3 pairings, it's got 3 rows.
- Some works had the pairing of "None". Those were treated like those without pairings.
- I only did canonical lookups for / pairings, not &
- 4 tickets entered to Support, plus one tag that I threw my hands up on and was like idek man, and did not report to Support but it's very wrong. However, it's wrong in a way that's probably best if I contacted the author to fix.
- Speaking of authors fixing thing, at one point I had half-assedly tried to go and fix my pairing overtagging. This experience has informed me that I did not finish the job and need to do that.
- I indicated which pairings were fully crossover and which had one crossover character. I probably missed some.
- Fics with multiple authors show as one line containing all the authors, not each author split out on their own line. This notably will mess up author counts for the Russian Fic Store account and anyone else who has cowritten works.
- Google Sheets caused much wailing and gnashing of teeth. It ate the pivot tables and when I tried to recreate them, I could not get it to do basic things. So! The pivots above are not functional. I wish anyone who is knowledgable about Google Sheets luck in recreating them. Otherwise, download to your local spreadsheet program and poke it how you please. If you do not have a local spreadsheet program and can't make the pivots work in Google Sheets (dear god what is this thing) and have specific questions, I would be happy to pivot for you and answer them!
